UCLA Dark Matter Advanced Training Institute
The three-day Dark Matter Advanced Training Institute (UCLA DM ATI) was held February 18-20, 2018 and the UCLA Dark Matter three-day conference was held February 21-23, 2018.
About the ATI
The hunt for the dark matter is truly an interdisciplinary enterprise that involves laboratory experiments, astrophysical and cosmological observations combined with simulations of structure formation in the Universe, searches at accelerators, such as the LHC, and particle physics theory. Due to the interconnectivity of all the subfields and the fast pace of advance in all of them, the training of junior researchers in matters beyond the restricted questions addressed in their specific work is a must for the success of our final goal of elucidating the nature of the dark matter.
The major emphasis of the ATI involved fostering the interdisciplinary nature of the dark matter research. Participants benefit from lectures of some of the forefront researchers in the respected subfields of dark matter research, from being able to participate in ample questions and answers sessions with them, from the opportunity of participating in the conference and from the exposure of their work in front of experts through poster sessions.
Students were asked to present posters of their respective research in a poster sessions for the trainees during the ATI and for all conference participants during the first day of the conference.
